The most common form of psychotherapy is individual therapy. Individual therapy can be invaluable in helping you sort out your problems and emotions in a safe, supportive, yet challenging environment. My training as a psychologist enables me to offer unique insights into your personality, coping style, and problem-solving skills. Through therapy, you will be better able to understand your internal experiences and work toward healing, growth, and the creating life you want. Some of the common issues I treat include:
Chronic health conditions
Grief and loss
Participating in therapy as a couple allows you and your spouse or partner to work together in addresses changes that one or both of you wants to experience in your relationship. Working together, I will help each partner to identify changes that will make the relationship more rewarding, satisfying, and meaningful. We will identify negative factors that lead to conflict and impair communication, as well as positive factors that can lead to increased understanding and closeness.
Both partners will be asked to attend the first session to help identify relationship concerns and goals for therapy. Dr. Goldman will then meet with each partner individually for a single session to gather each personís individual developmental, health, and relationship history. From that point on, both partners will work together as a team with Dr. Goldman to improve your relationshipís health and to breathe new life into the bond you share.
Please be aware that health insurance rarely covers couples counseling. As such, couples counseling is provided only on a fee for service (i.e., out of pocket) basis.
Bariatric Pre Surgical Evaluations
Bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery) includes a variety of procedures performed on people who are obese. Weight loss is achieved by reducing the size of the stomach with a gastric band or through removal of a portion of the stomach. As part of my practice, I often perform bariatric pre surgical evaluations for insurance and physician purposes.
